10. Conclusion
The “translation process” we have presented here may seem complicated, even daunting. Some of the steps and information apply to every type of translation, others are irrelevant except for large-scale projects. Nevertheless, the one thing we most hope to convey is the concept that translation is not just an incidental activity, but an integral part of the international success or failure of a product. Obviously, some of the information we have presented here will be superfluous to users who only have occasional and small translation needs. But complex needs require complex solutions, and in such cases the best strategy is to arm oneself with information.
If your company is going international in a big way, don’t short-change yourself. Consult translation specialists about the best options for your company. Investigate those options carefully. And above all, don’t underestimate the magnitude of the task. The end result will be worth it.
